What's Going On? June 6th through June 9th

Exam Schedule

Honors Geometry Final Exam

During class on Monday, students will spend time reviewing and preparing their notecards for the final exam.  During the exam, students will have three required sections: Area and Surface Area, Volume, and Solving for missing measures in Right Triangles.  Students have the option to complete an exam portion for any other learning target we have encountered during the semester.  All exam work must be completed within our one hour exam period.

What's Going On? May 31st through June 3rd

Thought for the Week

Unit 13: Probability

During this shortened week, we will spend some time investigating probability.  We will talk about how to calculate the probability of a single event occurring as well as determining the probability of several events happening.

What's Going On? May 23rd through May 27th

 Thought for the Week

Wrapping Up Unit 12: Transformations

This week, students will learn about the composition of transformations.  This means, how we can combine the rules of translation, rotation, and reflection and write a single rule to express the combination.  We will review during class on Tuesday and complete our unit 12 summative on Wednesday.  We will end the week during Friday's shortened class by creating a tessellation art project.

What's Going On? May 16th through May 20th

 Thought for the Week

Our last Math MAP Test & Unit 12: Transformations

We will start off the week by wrapping up our final Math MAP test.  Once this is complete, we will move on to unit 12.   In this unit, we will take a look at transformations.  We will learn about rigid transformations (translation, rotation, and reflection) and non-rigid transformations (dilations).  During this unit, we will learn about how to apply transformations to figures that have been graphed on a coordinate plane.  At the end of the unit, we will apply our knowledge in order to create art!  Students will create their own tessellation piece in order to create a fun geometric pattern.

Wrapping Up Unit 11: Surface Area and Volume

This week, we will wrap up our unit on Surface Area and Volume.  We will start off the week with a volume formative to check in on our level of understanding.  We will spend Tuesday's class reviewing and complete our summative during class on Wednesday.  We will end the week with our last math MAP test.

What's Going On? May 2nd through May 6th

 Thought for the Week

Unit 11: Surface Area and Volume

This week, we will continue with unit 11 on surface area and volume.  We will start off the week with a formative check-in on surface area.  For the rest of the week, we will focus on how to find the volume of solids.  This includes prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres.

As a reminder, students are invited and encouraged to come in during JIT!  I am available before school and during lunch Monday - Thursday.

Correction to the Exam Schedule

There has been a change to the exam schedule that was posted last week.  Please view the updated schedule for the end of the year below.

What's Going On? April 25th through April 29th

 Thought for the Week

Wrapping Up Unit 10: Area

We will start off this week by wrapping up our tenth unit on Area.  We will spend Monday's class reviewing and complete our Unit 10 Summative during class on Tuesday.  Students will need to demonstrate their ability to find the area and perimeter of objects and to solve for missing measurements based on the given area or perimeter.

After this, we will move into our unit on Volume.  For the rest of the week, we will focus on how to find the surface area of solids, including prisms, cylinders, pyramids, and cones.

Students who would like to get some extra help are welcomed and encouraged to come in before school and/or lunch for JIT.

Looking Ahead: Exam Schedule

We will end the semester with our exams.  Please note that the exam schedule has changed from 1st semester.  We will now have 90 minutes for each exam.
