What's Going On? May 3rd through May 7th

  Thought for the Week

Unit 11: Surface Area and Volume

This week, we will continue our study of surface area and volume.  On Monday, we will learn about how to calculate the volume and surface area of spheres.  During class on Tuesday, we will spend some time reviewing how to find the volume of solids.  Students will also complete a short formative.  Our summative assessment for the unit will take place on Friday.

What's Going On? April 26th through April 30th

 Thought for the Week

Unit 11: Surface Area and Volume

This week, we will continue our study of our eleventh unit on surface area and volume.  We will start the week by exploring the surface area of pyramids and cones.  Throughout the rest of the week, we will focus on how to find the volume of prisms, pyramids, and spheres.  Students should expect to see a formative assessment or two throughout the week to check in on our progress.  Students who would like some extra help are encouraged to work with me before school or during our lunch "JIT" sessions.  I am available in room 300 or via WebEx.

What's Going On? April 19th through April 23rd

Thought for the Week

Wrapping Up Unit 10: Area and Perimeter

This week, we will wrap up our tenth unit on area.  We will spend Monday's class learning about the relationship between the area and perimeter of regular polygons.  We will spend Tuesday's class period review and will complete our unit 10 summative during class on Wednesday.  Students who would like to check-in and get some extra help are encouraged to come in before school or during JIT at lunch.  Students can find me in room 300 or via WebEx.

We will end the week by beginning Unit 11 on volume and surface area.  Specifically, we will look at how to calculate the surface area of prisms and cylinders.

What's Going On? April 12th through April 16th

  Thought for the Week

Unit 10: Area

This week, we will continue on with our study of area.  Our main focus for the week will be on the area and circumference of circle-related figures.  We will start off the week by investigating the circumference and arc length of circles.  In the middle of the week, the freshmen and sophomores will miss class due to the ACT-Aspire test.  We will devote those class days to review.  We will finish the week by learning about the area of circles, sectors, and segments.
