Early Release: Friday, May 28, 2021
Unit 13: Probability
This week, we will spend some time working with probability. We will refresh our memories about how to calculate the probability of a single event occurring. We will then talk about how to calculate the probability of a variety of events that happen. We will talk about how to calculate a likelihood when order matters (permutations) and when order does not matter (combinations).

Unit 12: Transformations
This week, we will wrap up our unit on transformations. During Monday's class, we will talk about composite transformations. This is a combination of the translation, rotation, and reflection that we talked about last week. We will then apply our knowledge of transformations in creating a tessellation. Students will create a small art project where we design a single puzzle piece that is able to repeat on our piece of paper without any overlaps or gaps. On Wednesday we will spend the day reviewing and on Friday we will complete our Unit 12 summative assessment.

Unit 12: Transformations
This week, we will begin our twelfth unit of the year on transformations. Students will learn how to apply several different transformations to figures, including translations, rotations, and reflections. Students will learn how to apply the transformations on a graph and how to write a rule to define the transformations. Along with this week, students should expect to see a couple of formative assessments so we can make sure that we are on the right track. Students who need some extra help are couraged to see me during JIT time in room 300 or via WebEx.
