Our last Math MAP Test & Unit 12: Transformations
We will start off the week by wrapping up our final Math MAP test. Once this is complete, we will move on to unit 12. In this unit, we will take a look at transformations. We will learn about rigid transformations (translation, rotation, and reflection) and non-rigid transformations (dilations). During this unit, we will learn about how to apply transformations to figures that have been graphed on a coordinate plane. At the end of the unit, we will apply our knowledge in order to create art! Students will create their own tessellation piece in order to create a fun geometric pattern.

Spring Break Spirit Week!
Join the fun as we count down the days until our break!
Unit 9: Circles
This week, we will begin our ninth unit of the year on circles. This week's focus will be on how to write the equation for a circle and how to solve for missing measurements in a circle using based on the properties of arcs, chords, and tangents. We will end the week with a formative assessment to make sure that we have a firm grasp of these basic concepts before we go into spring break.

Unit 8: Triangles and Trionometry
This week, we will continue with our study of triangles and trigonometry. We will start off the week with a short formative to make sure we understand the underlying principles of right triangle trigonometry (SOH CAH TOA). After this, we will take a look at how we can solve for missing sides and angles in non-right triangles. The tools we will use for this include the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines.

Unit 7: Similarity
This week, we will continue with the seventh unit on Similarity. During class on Monday, students will complete a formative check-in to make sure that we are on the right track with this unit. For the rest of the week, we will focus on relationships that are formed within right triangles and relationships formed by angle bisectors and parallel lines in triangles. We will use these relationships to solve for missing measurements in triangles.
